They are a very rare and powerful stone collected once a year They are found exclusively at the bottom of the Narmada River in Western India, one of India's most holy sites. It originates in Maikala at Amarkantak in the Madhya Prades area and flows southwest into Cambay Bay. It flows into the Arabian Sea. The bed of the Narmada River is said to be riddled with the microscopic debris of a crashed meteorite touching down over 14 million years ago. Where ever the Hindus found a black meteorite egg shaped stone, they built a temple around it. Finding a true natural egg shaped Shiva Lingam in either color can happen but it is extremely rare. Black Shiva Lingams are rare and considered more sacred than the brown Shiva Lingam stones and they have a higher protective energy.
